To say that it was a deliberate snub would be implying that Sherlock was exerting effort, which he was not. He had been aware of Commander Spock's presence in the lab at one point, and had since lost touch with his surroundings for several hours. The face that they hadn't spoken a word to one another in that time was hardly unusual.

The silence had stretched for better than two weeks, now. Which was decidedly outside normal parameters for their laboratory association. Spock was so thoroughly analytical that Sherlock almost never had reason to shame, dismiss, or ignore him. Or hadn't, until that week when they'd all lost their minds. Since then, he hadn't so much as requested that the Vulcan pass the hydrofluoric acid.

It wasn't until Donovan skreeked from her tank that Sherlock looked up from his microscope to find Spock standing just across the table from him, staring.

It had been approximately nineteen days since Spock had noticed Sherlock behaving differently toward him, and thirteen days since he had determined that the difference was in the detective's treatment of him and him alone. Logically the only event that could have changed their prior comfortable association was the confrontation during the week when they had all been chemically induced to function without the use of their higher reasoning.

Spock still could not suppress a surge of self-loathing and regret whenever he thought of it. He knew he could not fault himself, as he could hardly prevent his body's response to chemical stimuli. But illogical though it might be, he was ashamed of his behavior, and missed Sherlock's company, even if they normally only exchanged a few words while working together.

He went over to Sherlock's table and waited for him to look up from his work. "I have observed your behavior to me has changed," he said, the words coming out slightly faster than his usual measured pace. "Logically I can only conclude it is a result of the events of three weeks ago. I would like to discuss your rationale."

Spock felt a little spike of something like frustration, and briefly reflected that he did not envy Doctor Watson encountering the feeling on so consistent a basis.

Still, he could not let the matter drop so easily. He sorted through his arguments and started with the one foremost in his mind, saying, "It would be illogical to expect that I would not support the man who is both my captain and my friend. I recognize that you do not know Jim as I do," he went on as Sherlock looked up from the microscope again, "but he has my respect and admiration. As such, I could not conscience any other choice, even in my compromised state."
